Create surveys

Create surveys

To gather data from your respondents, creating surveys is essential. Surveys are the most effective method for gaining insights into your clients' opinions and preferences.

Insocial has two ways to create surveys. The first one is by creating a survey based on a pre-made templates by Insocial. This will save you lots of time and makes it easier for you to start collecting data. Than there is the possibility to create custom surveys. This option will make your surveys more personalized and fits more to your needs.

Two ways of creating surveys

This option allows you to quickly start collecting data using professionally designed templates. It's a time-saving approach that simplifies the survey creation process.

For a more tailored approach, you can create your own surveys from scratch. This option allows you to personalize your surveys to better meet your specific needs and gather more targeted insights.

Question types

Please note that not all question types may be available to you, as their availability depends on your contract terms and the selected type of experience.

All question types are shown below, and a more detailed explanation of each will be provided beneath the picture.

Slider questions are single-page questions that allow you to gather respondents' opinions using an answer scale. There is a wide range of answer scales to choose from, such as ‘good-bad’ or ‘1-10’.

The 'Smiley' question type is frequently used to assess how customers feel about your product or service. It provides a more visually engaging answer scale than slider questions, allowing users to connect emotionally with the smiley faces, often resulting in more accurate and thoughtful responses.

Allow respondents to choose from a list of options using the ‘List’ question type. The key difference between the ‘List’ and ‘Multiple choice’ question types is that the ‘List’ question type permits the selection of only one answer, whereas ‘Multiple choice’ allows for multiple selections.

Have respondents select an answer from a dropdown menu by using the 'Search dropdown' question type. This option provides a cleaner and more organized view of answer choices, especially when you have a limited number of possible responses.

The ‘Multiple choice’ question type is an ideal option when you want to give respondents the ability to select multiple answers for a single question.

If respondents need to provide a personal opinion, explanation, or any answer that requires an open-ended response, select the ‘Open text’ question type.

Ask respondents to rank the answers according to their experience by using the ‘Ranking’ question type.

The key difference between the ‘Open text’ and ‘Review’ question types is that with the ‘Review’ question type, you request permission from respondents to publish their responses or reviews on your website. To use this feature, a configured connection to your website is required.

If you'd like to insert a separator page when, for example change of subject, use the ‘HTML page’ question type. This option allows you to add a fully customized page between questions to keep a clear and structured survey.

When respondents' information is needed, select the ‘Respondent information’ question type. This allows you to ask for their name, e-mail, phone number and gender.

The ‘Drivers’ question type is highly beneficial for gaining important insights from responses. Driver questions are those that can be answered on a scale, allowing us to create a priority matrix based on the scores respondents assign to the corresponding questions. For more information about the priority matrix, please make sure to read this link.

In the survey builder a driver question will look like this.

To create great driver question you should do the following:

  1. Select the text type (We would recommend to use a ‘Slider’).

  2. Ask a question that can be rated on a scale (see example question below).

  3. In ‘Explanations’ enter a summary of what data you want to gather from your respondents, e.g., 1 = very dissatisfied | 10 = very satisfied.

  4. Select the appropriate answer scale for your question.

Example questions:

  1. “How do you feel about our service?”

  2. “On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to recommend us to your friends or family?”

  3. “Please elaborate why you gave a {{ANSWER:IqWCEw}}?”

    1. {{ANSWER:IqWCEw}} is the score given by the respondent in the previous question.

Question references:

Note that the 3rd example question holds a {{question reference}} field. What this does is take the answer of that question and puts it in place of the curlybraces.

Setup question using question references:

  1. In question one, ask a question such as “Please rate our service on a scale of 1 to 10.”

  2. Under the ‘Advanced’ tab of that question you will find the corresponding question reference code.

  3. In the next question, for example “Please elaborate why you gave a {{ANSWER:IqWCEw}}?

    1. {{ANSWER:IqWCEw}}, this is the embeded question reference code which will automatically set the variable to the given score by the respondent in the first question.

Allow respondents to upload PNG, JPEG, JPG, HEIC files using the ‘Upload’ question type.

Would you like to group related questions and keep your survey well-organized? You can achieve this by selecting the 'Multiple questions' question type. This feature allows you to place several questions on a single page. For example, if you want to ask multiple questions about customer experience, you can cluster them together on one page to maintain a clean and structured survey format.

Add a final page at the end of the survey to indicate that the respondent has successfully completed the survey. You can do this by selecting the ‘Final page’ question type.

Optional:

  • In the 'Advanced' tab, you can add a subject to each question, which helps keep your survey more organized and allows you to better structure the responses. Additionally, you can apply a different theme to each question if necessary. Furthermore, there is a 'Link tag' option that lets you assign the same tag to questions that are related or identical across various surveys. This feature assists in aggregating and comparing responses efficiently.

  • In the 'Action center' tab, you can activate a notification rule for every single question that triggers every time a response meets the criteria you’ve set in the notification rules.
