Survey types
There are four different survey types to choose from. Each survey type essentially represents a different user interface — meaning it defines how users will interact with the survey.
To increase engagement and response rates, it's important to select the survey type that best fits your use case.
What survey type should I choose?
Survey Type | User Interface (UI) | Application |
|---|---|---|
Swift | A classic, full-page experience that guides the respondent through questions step-by-step in a separate window. | The user is redirected to a new webpage where each question is shown one by one. This is the most common and familiar survey format. Ideal for email invitations and standalone survey links. |
Essential | One-page survey with a single (or a few) question(s). | A short feedback moment most commonly used to measure User Experience (UX).
|
Conversational | A chat-like interface that mimics a conversation (e.g. WhatsApp-style). | After each answer, the next question appears in a chat bubble. Great for mobile experiences and informal user journeys. |
In-Channel | Inline experience within the actively opened page. | The survey is embedded directly into your product or service — ideal for real-time feedback in-platform (e.g. in-app, SaaS tools). Note: Before you can use this survey type, your environment must be properly configured.
